Whigs and Whiggism is a collection of important political writings of Benjamin Disraeli, a nineteenth century British Prime Minister and one of England’s most impressive theorists and statesmen. Disraeli displayed an implacable hatred of oligarchy, liberal progressivism, and all forms of materialism. He used his unique gifts to champion and revivify the ancient British constitution, which he claimed was “founded, not only on an intimate acquaintance with the national character, but a profound knowledge of human nature in general.”
